Avie Stanley recently completed a work experience at the Wise County Public Library, where she had the opportunity to develop valuable workplace and interpersonal skills in a supportive environment. Throughout her placement, Avie demonstrated a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic.
During her time at the library, Avie assisted with a variety of tasks including cleaning and organizing the classroom area, disinfecting the toys, dusting shelves and computers, watering plants, vacuuming, cleaning windows and tables, and preparing materials for library programs. As Avie became more familiar with her responsibilities, she gained confidence in completing tasks more independently.
One of Avie’s greatest areas of growth was her ability to take initiative and communicate with library staff. Initially, she was hesitant to ask for tasks, but over time she became more comfortable approaching staff members. Avie also loved seeing the children come in for class and was taught about how to appropriately say hello and continue her job duties. This helped strengthen her communication skills and increased her focus and confidence in a workplace setting.

Avie’s work experience allowed her to improve her time management, attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and overall workplace readiness. She consistently arrived prepared for her shifts and demonstrated professionalism while interacting with staff and patrons.
Through her participation, Avie successfully gained hands-on experience and developed skills that will benefit her in future employment opportunities. Her placement at the Wise County Public Library was a positive and rewarding experience that helped her grow both personally and professionally.
