Jordan has been employed at ACAC since February 2021 and loves every minute of his job! Jordan is a member of the Janitorial staff and completes a variety of cleaning tasks on a rotating schedule. Through employment, Jordan has demonstrated the ability to overcome significant communication barriers. The Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) has supported Jordan with Assistive Technology devices to notify him of breaks and changes in his work schedule each day. The ACAC staff have served as natural supports for Jordan and include him in staff events during his work shifts. The RSVP, Inc. Employment Specialists worked with ACAC staff to create visual schedule that rotates depending on Jordan’s shifts. Jordan has received compliments from ACAC staff and members on his attention to detail cleaning throughout the gym. The partnership between ACAC staff, DARS staff, and RSVP, Inc. Employment Specialists, Jordan’s mother, and Jordan has led to Jordan’s success! Jordan continues to learn more job tasks and is in the process of adding another workday to his schedule.
