Job Development is the term used to describe the process of finding a suitable job. This process begins as soon as the consumer and rehabilitation team decide upon a vocational goal and service plan. Participation is very important, so along with the consumer’s right to a good service, they will be expected to demonstrate responsible behavior by keeping appointments with the Employment Specialist, and making every effort to obtain a good job. Together they will complete and submit job applications, attend interviews, and participate in training sessions to strengthen job seeking and interviewing skills. These activities usually result in a job offer, which is called a ‘placement’.
